2019 Call to Emerging Artists

Calling All Emerging London Choreographers

Dancer: Tori Kuhn. Photo by Mark Spowart

The festival is seeking dances of 3 to 15 minutes by emerging artists in all styles. Choreographers ages 16 and up are welcome to apply. For the first time this year the Emerging performance will have a theme: “Awaken Summer”. Applicants will interpret this theme through their choreography, expressing their own ideas about awakening, emerging, growing, blooming, beginning, sunshine, heat, and all things summer.

PLEASE NOTE: This year the festival is especially interested in works with 3 or more dancers. We will be accepting a very limited number of solos and duets. Click here to apply.

Preference is given to London and area artists, but we welcome submissions from across Canada. Movement and music content must be appropriate for a family audience.

Job posting: 2019 LDF Dance Mob Choreographer

CALLING ALL CHOREOGRAPHERS

The London Dance Festival is inviting choreographers to apply for the job of Dance Mob Choreographer (formerly Flash Mob Choreographer) for the 2019 festival. The festival will take place in various locations in London from June 28th to June 30th.

We are seeking a team of two choreographers to create an engaging dance mob piece. The dance may be choreographed in any style that is accessible for participants of all ages and abilities. Most of the dance must be simple and easy to learn, but it may also include a small section of more advanced steps for experienced dancers. Performances will take place outdoors on a grass or concrete surface.

Choreographers will perform the dance with community members as part of the Community Showcase event. The choreographers will also tour the city starting in May and June 2019 to facilitate a series of workshops in which they’ll teach the dance in local studios, businesses, schools, and organizations.

Choreographers will be paid for the creation and performance of the dance, and the facilitation of workshops. Artists are welcome to apply as a team or individually. All applicants must be available for workshop bookings at various times throughout May and June 2019. (We respect that applicants may have other jobs and commitments and the selected artists’ schedules will be considered when booking workshops).

Preference will be given to London and area artists. Click here to apply.
